Not only beautiful and talented but full of energy and ideas as well.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_458\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-458\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mandie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-458\" title=\"Mandie Chandler\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mandie-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-458\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mandie Chandler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_495\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-495\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Janet.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-495\" title=\"Janet Knoop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Janet-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-495\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Janet Knoop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We were due to arrive for mid afternoon on the Friday when all the traders were gathered to set up their stalls ready for the onslaught when the keen group of spinning ladies arrived.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_464\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-464\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Setting-up.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-464 \" title=\"Setting up\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Setting-up.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Setting up<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was a lovely variety of wares on sale \u2013 Janet had fibre in abundance and hanks of her fabulous art yarns which were being snapped up as scarves as most of us were unprepared for the cold snap which arrived with us.\u00a0Mandie had her delightful colourful and interesting blends, magic balls from the Beastie, as well as needles and interesting yarns.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_496\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-496\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/mandies-fibre.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-496\" title=\"Mandie's fibre\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/mandies-fibre-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-496\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mandie&#39;s fibre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Robyn Steel Strickland, one of the excellent tutors, had felting accessories as well as her lovely little book \u2013 \u201cFelt\u201d \u2013 which I hastened to get a signed copy of.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/felt-book.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-451\" title=\"felt book\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/felt-book-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Carmel Hanna , Madame Sock inAustraliaI believe, had sock yarns and fibres for making such yarns, as well as intricately and interestingly dyed yarn for special effects. The lovely and lively Donni Grant of Moggy and Me had a table full of weaving goodie bags. Ooh it became hard to resist for so many people!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_477\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-477\" style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Donni-setting-up.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-477 \" title=\"Donni setting up\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Donni-setting-up.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-477\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Donni setting up<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Heather and Pete Dunn came along with their Unicorn fibre cleaning products, alpaca and merino fibre and Heather\u2019s gorgeous natural hand dyed merino clothing range. These are done with natural dyes using leaves and other native bush plants for decorative effect.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_455\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-455\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Heather-setting-up.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-455 \" title=\"Heather setting up\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Heather-setting-up.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-455\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Heather setting up<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As you can imagine the scene resembled an opening day of Harrods\u2019s sale once the ladies appeared. And then there was FOOD! Wow the caterers did their best to tempt us with some delightfully yummy treats such as these mini pavlova which, as everyone knows ( J ), originated in New Zealand. I have to say that the Aussies have perfected our techniques and we would be hard pressed to choose a winner now. Please note the NZ kiwifruit on top!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_462\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-462\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pavlova.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-462\" title=\"Pavlova\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pavlova-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-462\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pavlova<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Day two<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On Saturday the day was organised into two workshops per tutor and everyone could choose where and when they went, so it was very free form for all of us.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_489\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-489\" style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woolcombs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-489 \" title=\"Wool combs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Woolcombs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-489\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wool combs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I showed the use of wool combs and hackles in the room next door to Donni who was teaching about using a rigid heddle loom for dramatic effect.\u00a0 Some stunning work appeared with people using their art yarns as weft. Helen worked on this beautiful weaving.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_468\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-468\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Weaving-workshop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-468 \" title=\"Weaving workshop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Weaving-workshop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-468\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Weaving workshop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Robyn\u2019s felting classes resulted in some lovely felted flowers and really beautiful little vessels.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_478\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-478\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Felt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-478\" title=\"Felt workshop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Felt-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-478\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Felt workshop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Heather\u2019s fleece preparation class was very popular with many taking the opportunity to learn and consolidate information about fleece selection and treatment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_479\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-479\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fibre-prep.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-479\" title=\"Fibre preparation\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fibre-prep-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fibre preparation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Carmel\u2019s sock class incorporated setting up a spinning wheel for making yarn suitable for socks. She has to be Australia\u2019s sock guru.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_492\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-492\" style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sock-workshop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-492 \" title=\"Sock workshop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sock-workshop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-492\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sock workshop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bernadette is an enthusiastic knitter of moebius scarves and garments but she specialises in Cat Bhordhi\u2019s cast on method. Pretty much everyone wanted to learn this technique so Bernadette was in big demand all weekend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_460\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-460\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Moebius-workshop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-460 \" title=\"Moebius workshop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Moebius-workshop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-460\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Moebius workshop<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Janet makes the most marvellous batts and then art yarns with superb skill.\u00a0 She is one of the leading exponents with an Aura and can really make the wheel sing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_445\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-445\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Batts-and-yarns.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-445 \" title=\"Batts and yarns\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Batts-and-yarns.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-445\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Batts and yarns<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People who attended her classes learned how to make beautiful batts as well as luscious yarns.\u00a0On Saturday evening after dinner Robyn ran a fun fibre quiz. Competition was fierce and every correct answer won a ticket in the final draw for prizes. Questions such as which region was the birthplace of felt, and what do maidens and an orifice have in common, were debated with everyone pulling in big hauls of tickets.\u00a0 Nanny and Ewe had assembled a big pile of prizes and a good number of people had their numbers pulled from the hat.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_448\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-448\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/dinner-time.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-448\" title=\"Dinner time\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/dinner-time-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-448\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dinner time<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following this Owen gave a presentation about Majacraft and some of the wonderful countries and spinners we have visited around the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day Three<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Sunday morning the classes ran again which gave everyone the chance of either repeating a class or trying a new one. There was much coming and going.<\/p>\n<p>Hot scones for morning tea helped us face the chill of the air outside. We had a very light snowfall \u2013 well it didn\u2019t stay on the ground, then we had a hail storm, so the weather was perfect for sitting inside doing what we all love best.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_467\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-467\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-view.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-467 \" title=\"The view...\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-view.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-467\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The view...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have to say the food was absolutely great all weekend, with wine from the local St Anne\u2019s winery nearby, and endless tea and coffee. Just super.<\/p>\n<p>During the weekend we all helped towards making a fibre Danish which was split up and handed out to all under Janet\u2019s supervision. Vivian and her daughter Otilie put in a lot of time on it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_453\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-453\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fibre-Danish.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-453 \" title=\"Fibre Danish\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majacraft.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fibre-Danish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-453\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fibre Danish<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Otilie was rightly very proud of her first weaving project.
