<\/a>I was reading in the paper recently that some of New Zealand’s butterflies are in some danger as people are poaching them and exporting them to other countries for collectors. Because they are invertebrates, they are not covered by the conversation laws in the same way as our other animals. One of the butterflies being targetted is the Admiral family.This week this Orange Admiral arrived in the packing area and flew around the spider webs with something of a suicidal fervor. We carefully caught it and I managed to get a couple of photos before it was let go again.<\/p>\n The final interesting bit of news was the arrival of this hot rod. It belongs to a family friend that we have known since I was a child. He has always been a HUGE car nut building hot rods for fun and show. This is one that he imported from the US and rebuilt over here. Inside, there are no skins on the doors or anything. It has a big V8 engine and we were commenting on how noisy it must be to drive in. Well, Chris (the owner) said that he actually has to drive with earplugs in because it is so loud. Plus, he can’t drive it in the middle of summer as it gets so hot that the combination of the weather and engine actually ends up burning his feet!
