PALE MOON YARNS

Our family moved to Andalusia, AL when my husband was offered a job teaching 6th grade social studies. I was on a travel assignment in Iowa working as an RN. When I arrived (3 months after my family did) I started looking for a yarn/fiber store to get my 'fix' only to find out I would have to drive at least 1 1/2 hours in any direction to get to the closest store. One day in early January, as I was returning home from taking my mother-in-law to the airport I had an epiphany. "OPEN A YARN & FIBER STORE!" That weekend we started looking for a place to open shop! I opened "Pale Moon Yarns" May 25, 2013. While I acquired the space that would become the store, it took 5 months of renovating the space for it to become what I envisioned. I did all the work myself with some help from my husband and children. I love working with my hands and creating. I love the feel and smell of yarn and fiber. I LOVE the smell of wet alpaca or wool as I dye it. I want to share this passion with my new home community. I wanted to create a place where people can come and feel that inner calm when they walk through the door. I wanted to create a community of gathering, sharing, teaching, learning and enjoying each other's company. I want my store to be THE place to go - to learn about spinning wheels, to learn about knitting, crocheting, and eventually weaving. My goal is to be "The Yarn Barn" of KS or "The Woolery" of KY for the Deep South!

I have a variety of classes that I try to offer during times that people can actually attend. I offer beginning knitting and crochet classes twice a day (on scheduled days). I offer Advanced Beginning classes in both knit and crochet, however I just learned I will need to offer a class in between these two levels. I offer sock classes, reading pattern classes and project classes. I have a felting class as well. I will expand to spinning classes shortly. If there is something you want to learn, let us know and we will create a class - chances are good that other people want to learn that as well.
