More amazing DHL weaving

I really enjoy sharing what people have been creating on their Dynamic Heddle Looms and this piece has been created by the lovely Donyale Grant (www.moggyandme.com).

She has been moving the reed segments about and actually sliding them out of the heddle and rotating them during the weaving process to create this interesting effect. Cool huh?

Until next time

Dynamic Heddle Weaving

For those who are fans of Facebook and are interested in the new Majacraft Dynamic Heddle Loom, you might be interested in checking out "Manic Dynamic Majacrafters". This is a page set up by three of our weaving heroes, Donyale Grant, Esther Rodgers and Suzy Brown. It is dedicated to weaving on the Majacraft loom. People are posting their work, using it as a forum and taking part in the challenges offered to build a very cool community.

Here is a small selection of pieces being created:

Camp Pluckyfluff – HANGTOWN October 27,28

The title says it all really!

Lexi Boeger aka Pluckyfluff is hosting a camp over the weekend of October 27 and 28. I have had the good fortune to take part in one of Lexi's classes/camps and she is AWESOME! She has Auras to try as well as the Dynamic Heddle loom. It appears as though spaces are limited so if you would like to take part in a weekend to remember then I suggest enrolling soon.

Possibilities for Dynamic Heddle weaving

Pat Old from Tauranga sent me a couple of links off the web of weaving created by a very skilled weaver called Peter Collingwood. He made some modifications to a large loom that I understand were  quite complicated. He was able to achieve the following effects that he called "microgauzes".

Looking at what is happening here, it looks like this would be very simple on the Dynamic Heddle Loom, simply slid the segments in and out of the heddle, switch them, rotate them, the possibilities look endless! I know Donyale Grant at Moggy and Me is very excited to experiment with this technique.

Dynamic Heddle weaving – upcycled blanket floor rug

The Dynamic Heddle loom has only been out a short while and already I am getting some amazing pictures sent through to me of what people are creating. Mandie Chandler from "Ewe Give Me The Knits" sent me this image of a floor rug that has been woven from 'upcycled' blankets. The weaver is Jeanetter Bastion from Australia (Jeknit on Ravelry).

The first…

Bendigo has come and gone and I have been hearing lots of interesting stories from the people who were able to attend. Several of our dealers had the new looms on their stands to demonstrate and sell.

So here are the first two people in the world to own the looms, Joy Dove and Tricia Costello. I sincerely want to thank you both for trusting in what we craft. I hope that you get years and years of creative pleasure from them.

And here are the first two bundles of joy!

If you are on Ravelry, there is a thread in the Majacraft fans group discussing the loom and I have made a couple of comments with tidbits there - I guess I have set up a little treasure hunt for you! More loom news will follow soon...

Until next time
